UGA ranks in the top 20 best public universities in the U.S.

The University of Georgia ranks in the top 20 of the nation’s best public universities for the eighth consecutive year, according to the U.S. News & World Report 2024 rankings released on September 18. The report placed the university at number 20 among public schools and number 47 for all national universities. UGA fell four places from its spot at number 16 in the 2023 rankings as the university has fluctuated within the top 20 over the last eight years.

UGA gained additional recognition for individual programs. The Terry College of Business rose to number 21 for undergraduate business programs and the college’s risk management and insurance programs held their spot at number one in the nation. Terry’s real estate program ranked fourth and its management information systems and accounting programs also ranked in the top 20.

The university also recently received recognition from other college-ranking organizations. Forbes ranked the university at number 21 in its top 25 public colleges ranking. The platform Niche placed UGA at number nine in their list of top public universities and number three for the best student life in the United States.

“The University of Georgia is increasingly recognized as one of the best institutions of higher education in the United States in terms of both quality and value,” said UGA President Jere W. Morehead. “Our consistency in the top 20 is a testament to the dedication of our talented faculty, staff, and students.”
