This week, the Athens Area Diaper Bank is hosting events and diaper drives across Athens from Sept. 18 to Sept. 24 for National Diaper Need Awareness Week. The bank serves families in Barrow, Clarke, Jackson, Madison, Oconee, and Oglethorpe County.
The Athens Area Diaper Bank is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that aims to raise public awareness of diaper needs while working to eradicate need by providing diapers to low-income families in the Athens Area. One in two U.S. families struggle to provide enough diapers to keep a baby or a toddler dry, clean, or healthy.
People are encouraged to donate diapers at special drop-off sites, volunteer at diaper banks and donate on the Athens Area Diaper Bank Website.
To end the week, The Athens Area Diaper Bank is hosting an open-house reception on Sept. 24 in Bogart from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The diaper bank will offer refreshments and tours to celebrate the community.
