Senator Raphael Warnock is working to shore up Head Start programs. Warnock, along with Republican Senator Mike Braun of Indiana, introduced the HEADWAY Act Monday. He said the measure would address staffing shortages in the childcare workforce by allowing Early Head Start teachers to earn their Child Development Associate credential while they teach.
The program serves infants, toddlers, and pregnant women, focusing on children from birth to age three. A program alumnus, Warnock touted Head Start’s benefits. The program was launched in 1965.
