Georgia Employees Among Hardest Working in Nation

Georgia’s workforce, that is the number of people employed and those available to work, continues to increase. The state labor department released the job numbers Thursday. While unemployment was up in August, Georgia remains one of the hardest working states, according to a recent report by the personal finance website WalletHub.

Analyst Jill Gonzalez says Georgia is among the top 15 hardest working states in the nation, but Gonzalez says that hardworking title is not necessarily a good thing. Workers in the state work longer 40 hours per week and many leave as much as 55% of paid time off on the table.

Analysts say Americans work an average of over 1800 hours per year, that’s about 500 more hours a year than Germans, but about 500 fewer than Colombians.
