Up to eight new electric buses will be added to UGA’s fleet with a $7.2 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration. The funding, which came through a partnership with the Georgia Department of Transportation, will enable UGA’s Transportation & Parking Services to add more electric buses to one of the largest collections of electric buses in American higher education.

The new buses produce zero tailpipe emissions and will aid in increasing student mobility by providing more transportation options across campus.

“These new electric buses represent a substantial step forward in UGA’s ongoing pursuit of sustainability,” said TPS Director Todd Berven. “They will not only enable us to reduce our carbon footprint but also enhance the overall quality of transportation services we provide to our students, faculty, and visitors.”
