Tuesday, the Athens-Clarke County Mayor and Commission voted to approve and accept a consultant-developed report on homelessness in the county. Mayor Kelly Girtz summarized the report’s findings into three large areas, coordination of services, solid case management of resources and support, and shelter.
He said about 2.2 million of the five million dollars allotted for the plan will go to providing the homeless with housing. Girtz also discussed the commission’s approval of a report tackling affordable housing in Clarke County.
