Terry College alumni pledge $1 million to support student veterans

Rachel Sorbet

Terry College of Business alumni, Heather and BJ Schaknowski have pledged $1 million to student veterans enrolled in the Terry College of Business.

The Schaknowski Military Appreciation Fund will provide scholarship support to student veterans enrolled in graduate and undergraduate programs in the Terry College.

“BJ and Heather’s generosity opens the door for more veterans to have the opportunity to develop their career skills after they leave active duty,” said Terry College Dean Ben Ayers. “This scholarship helps our veterans with financial needs continue their studies and work toward their chosen professional field.”

Since graduating from the Terry College, Heather and BJ have worked in the software industry in marketing and sales, respectively. Heather serves on the Executive Board of A Precious Child, a Denver-based organization that provides children and families with community resources. BJ, a veteran himself, is on the national board of Susan G. Komen, an organization that provides breast cancer patients with resources and advocacy while funding for breast cancer research.
