A new manufacturing facility is coming to Jackson County. Toyota Industries Electric Systems North America announced that it will construct a $69 million plant in Pendergrass, about half an hour northwest of Athens. The new facility will make DC-to-DC converters, which convert high voltage to low voltage to supply power to auxiliary equipment. Operations are expected to begin in 2025.

It's not Toyota Industries’ first foray into Jackson County. They also operate TD Automotive Compressor Georgia and Toyota Industries Compressor Parts America, Co. These companies currently support more than 400 jobs in Jackson County, according to a media release from Governor Brian Kemp’s office.
