Person of Interest Identified in West Athens Shooting of 13-Year-Old

Taylor Gerlach

ACC Police have a person of interest in the shooting of a 13-year-old boy who was struck more than a week ago outside his West Athens home. The incident happened shortly before 8 am on Chalfont Lane off Mitchell Bridge Road.

Although the teen was struck twice in the leg, he has already been released from the hospital. Police first located a vehicle believed to be used by the shooter; a damaged silver Jeep found in the woods near Westchester Circle which was reported stolen in North Carolina.

A search of the area led to a man being taken into custody, although he has not been charged with the assault. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Movie Lister at 762-400-7333.
