Georgia drivers can expect higher prices at the pumps starting Thursday as state motor fuel taxes return.
Governor Brian Kemp originally suspended the state’s tax on gasoline and diesel in September.
When the suspension was re-extended at the end of October, Kemp said, “I'm proud this action has helped keep millions of dollars in hardworking Georgians' pockets and look forward to continuing to see that impact”.
Today, the General Assembly convened a special session to discuss redistricting.
While discussing the gas tax is not on the agenda, it is possible for Governor Kemp to declare a State of Emergency after the special session ends. This would extend the gas tax suspension until the regular session begins in January.
