Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter is being laid to rest Wednesday afternoon, after a private service at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains. She will be buried at the Carter family residence. The burial brings to an end three days of memorials for Carter, who died November 19, at the age of 96.
Professor John Maltese is the Associate Dean at the University of Georgia’s School of Public and International Affairs. He worked with the former First Lady, as well as former President Jimmy Carter when he held a three-conference at UGA. on the 30th anniversary of Carter's inauguration.
Maltese says Rosalynn Carter was gracious and accomplished.
Rosalynn Carter was the first first lady to testify before Congress since Eleanor Roosevelt.
In lieu of flowers, Rosalynn Carter requested that donations be made to the Carter Center Mental Health Program or the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers.
