States with the Highest Student Loan Payments

Colleges and universities around the state and nation are holding commencement ceremonies this month. Unfortunately, many of those recent graduates will be carrying heavy student loan debt. Cassandra Happe is an analyst with the personal finance website WalletHub, which recently conducted a study on student loan debt across the country. She shared insights from that study.

Unfortunately, Georgia ranked in the 15 states with the most student loan debt in the nation. Payments on those debts come to an average of $206 a month.

Over 43 million Americans owe a collective $1.6 trillion in student loans. That averages out to about $37,000 per borrower.
