The Georgia Department of Education identified three Clarke County schools that qualify for additional state support.

States are required by federal law to report schools that scored lowest on the 2023 CCRPI, or College and Career Readiness Performance Index, for additional support.

The state Department of Education named Bettye H. Holston Elementary and Whit Davis Elementary within the lowest-performing Title 1 schools in a list released on Tuesday. They also identified Coile Middle for low performance by students with disabilities. All three schools will receive state support and monitoring and will be reevaluated after three years.

The department also shared that Classic City High School met the requirements to remove state support by showing improvements in English language arts, math, or science achievement.
