Tragic Collision on Danielsville Road Claims Newborn's Life, ACCPD Launch Homicide Investigation

Athens-Clarke County Police Department is investigating the first vehicle fatality in Clarke County for 2024; a January 11th two-vehicle collision on Danielsville Road near Mission Drive. 24-year-old Munjae Whatley, the driver of an Amazon delivery vehicle, made a turn that intersected with a northbound 1996 Ford Ranger.

Whatley sustained minor injuries, while Jerry Miller, the Ford Ranger's driver, and Helen Edward, a pregnant passenger, were transported to a local hospital with minor and serious injuries, respectively. The newborn delivered post-collision passed away on January 13, 2024. ACCPD has since reclassified the case as a homicide by vehicle investigation.
