Georgia is sending assistance to Texas to support efforts at the border.

Governor Brian Kemp was joined by several state leaders as he made the announcement Tuesday afternoon. Kemp will deploy more Georgia National Guard troops to the border to curtail illegal crossings. He called the situation a failure by federal authorities.

House Speaker Jon Burns also addressed those gathered.
Kemp said Georgia has had troops at the border since 2019.
