UGA Extension Farm Stress Event works to prevent suicides

John Reed

A recent study reports that over a third of Georgia’s farmers disclose experiencing suicidal ideation. The Farm Stress Summit meets every year, a collaborative effort between the University of Georgia’s Cooperative Extension and several other partners. Leigh Anne Aaron is the Northeast District Family and Consumer Sciences Program Development Coordinator at UGA’s Cooperative Extension. Amanda Tedrow is the Northeast District Agriculture and Natural Resources Program Development Coordinator at UGA’s Extension, and both sat down with WUGA’s Alexia Ridley to discuss this year’s event.

Alexia Ridley joined WUGA as Television and Radio News Anchor and Reporter in 2013. When WUGA TV concluded operations, she became the primary Reporter for WUGA Radio. Alexia came to Athens from Macon where she served as the News Director and show host for WGXA TV. She's a career journalist and Savannah native hailing from the University of Michigan. However, Alexia considers herself an honorary UGA DAWG!
