Georgia Department of Corrections and FBI find a criminal enterprise, contraband within facilities

This months-long and multi-state investigation, known as “Operation Skyhawk,” between the Georgia Department of Corrections and the Federal Bureau of Investigation Safe Streets Gang Task Force, found a criminal enterprise, introducing contraband within Georgia Department of Corrections facilities.

Out of the 150 suspects, eight Georgia Department of Corrections Facility employees were immediately terminated. According to Kemp, suspects are facing over 1,000 criminal charges combined, including contraband introduction, drug trafficking, and felons in possession of firearms.

Suspects are also facing charges under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, and Participation in Criminal Gang Activity across multiple states. Kemp stated that this case is the largest Gang Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act charge in Georgia’s history.
