Two Athens men have been indicted on murder charges in the death of an Athens teen who was shot to death in 2022 outside his home on Cone Drive in the Nellie B. Homes complex.
Jacquavious Smith and Shamon Elder, Jr. are accused of killing Brynarius Smith during what has been described as a gang killing. The state Attorney General’s Office says the suspects have ties to the Red Tape Gang operating on the east side of Athens.
Police have not disclosed what they think was the motive for killing Smith.
