Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating the murder of a 25-year-old man.
According to a media release, authorities responded to reports of a shooting on Huntington Road, near the Georgia Square Mall, at around 11:00 pm Wednesday night. Officers found Nigel Zachariah Turner of Athens, dead at the scene of a gunshot wound. Another shooting victim was taken to an area hospital with what law enforcement characterized as non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation continues, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Athens-Clarke County Police Department.
This is the 35th shooting, including non-fatal ones, this year in Athens-Clarke County. Shootings are down 17% from this time last year.
