Ciné to Host 2024 Wear Orange Film Screening

The annual Wear Orange Weekend is June 7-9. Organizers say they are honoring survivors and working to end gun violence around the nation. Athens Moms Demand Action is holding its seventh annual Wear Orange event Saturday at Cine. This year, organizers will hold a screening of Us Kids, a documentary about the survivors of the Parkland High School shooting. It will be followed by a reception and panel discussion with community partners, Attendance is free, but limited. It’s Saturday, June 8 at 12:30 pm at Ciné located at 234 West Hancock Avenue.

Emma Jones is a volunteer with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. The organization is partnering with community members and organizations including United Community Outreach which headed by Asia Thomas. They discussed the scope of the problem of gun violence with WUGA.

Alexia Ridley joined WUGA as Television and Radio News Anchor and Reporter in 2013. When WUGA TV concluded operations, she became the primary Reporter for WUGA Radio. Alexia came to Athens from Macon where she served as the News Director and show host for WGXA TV. She's a career journalist and Savannah native hailing from the University of Michigan. However, Alexia considers herself an honorary UGA DAWG!
