2 million Georgians to hit the road this Fourth of July; beware of flat tires, dead batteries

The American Automobile Association is predicting that its crews in Georgia will be busy this Fourth of July holiday period. Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to need roadside help, including in Georgia.

AAA reports that two million Georgians are expected to set out in automobiles this year during the Fourth of July holiday.

AAA has several tips to prevent the most common causes of roadside emergencies—dead batteries and flat tires. Drivers should check their tires for pressure levels and tread depth. They should also check the status of their car batteries, brakes, and oil levels.

Other tips include replacing windshield wiper blades after 6-12 months and packing a first aid kit.

If Fourth of July travelers do find themselves pulling over on packed roadways, AAA instructs drivers to pull over as far as possible, turn on hazard lights, call for help, and remain inside or close to the vehicle.
