UGA's Archway Partnership Expands Public Service Efforts

The University of Georgia’s Archway Partnership is expanding.

The University of Georgia’s Archway Partnership is expanding. The public service and outreach organization works with local governments, industry, and educators to support several communities around the state. Michelle Elliott is Director of the unit.

“For several years, we have had eight communities that have a full-time public service faculty member placed in the communities to help community members come together and work on issues in partnership with resources from the University of Georgia,” according to Elliott. “We are super excited that this week we are announcing a ninth active Archway community. Dublin and Laurens County will join the eight other active Archway communities.”

Elliott says that by joining the program, the communities that are being served will have access to a wide range of resources and expertise provided by UGA.

“This means that they’ll have listening sessions in the communities. We’ll be able to gather local leaders together and identify issues like workforce development, economic development, downtown revitalization, and many more that they want to partner with he University of Georgia students and faculty on to make their community the best place to live."

Archway Partnership began in 2005 working in one area. Each community involved has a full-time UGA public service faculty member working to align resources.
