The summer Olympic Games begin in Paris, France this week, and many Georgia Bulldog athletes will make the transatlantic journey to compete.
34 current, former, and future University of Georgia students will compete in the 2024 Olympic Games this year. That’s almost as many as the delegation of 36 athletes sent in 2016 to Rio and more than the 30 that competed in 2020 in Tokyo.
Track and field athletes dominate the Bulldog delegation this year with 23 participants. Swimming follows with six and tennis with three. Together, they will represent 10 different sports.
The Bulldog Olympic contingent is also an international bunch, representing 20 countries. Eight of the athletes are on Team USA.
