Nominations for TEDxUGA 2025 are now open. This year, for the first time, the event is open to Athens area community members. Typically, TEDxUGA presenters have been selected from UGA students, alumni, faculty and staff. Isabella Martinez is the TEDxUGA curator. She says this year’s goal is to strengthen the ties between the university and the Athens community.
“For as long as it comes to community members, we are hoping they have some tie to the university,” according to Martinez. “Whether they are a donor, or a client, a student group, or just have any form of connection to the university, that would be ideal.”
Those interested in participating can self-nominate or nominate another person. The Morton Theatre will host presenters on Friday, March 28th, 2025. Martinez says they are looking for big ideas.
“Here at TEDxUGA we always say ideas worth spreading, a big idea that only you will be able to share. One that holds a unique point of view, or maybe a personal experience, or an area of research, something that only you will be able to share with the world.”
Nominations are being accepted through the end of the month. Visit TEDxUGA.com for more information or to apply.
