The Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections and Voter Registration met Tuesday and discussed potential litigation behind closed doors.

During Tuesday evening’s meeting, the county Board of Elections moved to executive session to discuss pending or potential litigation with the county’s legal counsel in accordance with state law.

Also at the meeting, Director of Elections and Voter Registration Charlotte Sosebee updated the board on her office’s preparation of Spanish-language ballots.

Earlier this year, the Athens-Clarke County Commission voted to allow the Elections Department to issue ballots in Spanish in the upcoming November election, making it only one of two Georgia counties to do so. The Elections Office is currently raising awareness of the Spanish language ballots. Sosebee reported that three billboards have been installed around the county advertising the change.
