UGA President’s Annual Report

University of Georgia President Jere W. Morehead recently published his annual report, extolling the works of the university and its accomplishments.

The university's achievements include being counted as a top 20 public university in America according to US news and world report, being among the top three producers of Rhodes scholars, and having a 96% career placement rate.

UGA’s continuing accomplishments include being ranked in the top five universities that bring new products to market for the last ten years. These products include poultry vaccines, computer software, and medical devices. These products can be considered a result of UGA’s investment in research which saw a 65% uptick in expenditures in the health and science fields.

Nearly $500 million is being allocated to national health and science research and development through the school. This includes a groundbreaking research into parkinsons and crop genomes by Anumantha Kanthasamy and Robin Buell respectively.

Morehead also highlighted the $8.1 billion statewide economic impact that UGA has on Georgia. Factors considered for this estimate are the sports programs, the jobs created by the university and the research sponsorships.
