Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson announced that Georgia's September unemployment rate was 3.6 percent.
On October 17, the Georgia Department of Labor released data on job growth over the month in different sectors. The industries with the most job gain over the month included Health Care and Social Assistance, Accommodation and Food Services, Specialty Trade Contractors, Personal Services, and State Government.
The number of employed Georgians was up by over 1,500 to 5.2 million, an all-time high. While the number of unemployed was up by 3,016 to almost 200,000, the highest level since July 2021, initial claims were down by over 3,000 over the month to 19,600 in September.
