After the first week of early voting, more Athens-Clarke County voters have cast ballots than in the first week of voting in 2020.
The first week of early voting is over, and Charlotte Sosebee, the Director of Elections for the Athens-Clarke County government, says that turnout has been steady.
“We have exceeded our 2020 elections stats, so I’m well pleased with the turnout.”
By the end of the day Sunday, nearly 8,000 people had voted, far outpacing the first week of early voting four years ago, when a little under 4,000 people voted.
Sosebee also says that early voting will continue until November 1st, not November 3rd, as some billboards state around the county.
Not everyone is voting in person, however. Sosebee expects to receive 4,000 absentee ballots by the end of the election.
