Athens-Clarke County’s Acting City Manager has named the Director of Housing and Community Development.
Melinda Lord is now the Director of the Housing and Community Department, or HCD, of the Athens-Clarke County Government. Lord was appointed by Acting City Manager Niki Jones and has served as interim director of the department since February.
Lord has over 20 years of experience in community development, and was a member of the HCD from 2015 to 2021, when she left to work for the city of Atlanta.
The HCD manages federal funds granted to Athens-Clarke County for affordable housing, homeless, youth, mental health and public services initiatives.
