On Thursday, Chris Batson of Clarke Middle School was named Teacher of the Year and Christian Barner of Clarke Central High School was named Support Professional of the Year.
The winners were announced at a banquet held at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education. Both winners were awarded cash prizes and received donations from local businesses.
The Support Professional of the Year was selected by a district committee. While the Teacher of the Year was evaluated through classroom visits and scored by a panel of judges based on a rubric developed by the district.
As Teacher of the Year, Batson will now represent CCSD in the statewide competition.
