After the departure of its Executive Director this year, the Athens Area Homeless Shelter will welcome a new leader in early November.
The Athens Area Homeless Shelter, or AAHS, has named Olivia Amato as its new Executive Director. She worked at AAHS for nearly seven years as the organization’s community engagement coordinator, from 2017 to 2023. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master’s degree in Social Work, Community Empowerment and Program Development as well as a certificate in Nonprofit Management, all from the University of Georgia.
AAHS primarily serves families and children seeking to exit homelessness.
Since 2023, Amato has held a role at Voices for Georgia’s Children. She will assume leadership at AAHS on Monday. The public is encouraged to meet Amato on December 6th from 8-10 am in the Synovus Bank Community Room at 150 W. Hancock Avenue.
