On November 14, Bruce Thomas, Georgia Labor Commissioner announced that Georgia's October unemployment rate was 3.6%, unchanged from a revised 3.6% in September. The unemployment rate was five-tenths lower than the national unemployment rate.
Jobs were up by 1,500 over the month and up by 64.9 thousand over the year to more than 4.9 million. The most over the month job gains included Accommodation and Food Serivces, Local Government, Retail Trade, Health Care and Social Assistance, and Durable Goods Manufacturing.
The labor force was up by 1,370 to over 5.4 million, an all-time high. The labor force participation rate went down from 61.8% to 61.7%. The number of unemployed was up by 596 to over 196,000, the highest level since July 2021.
