Nicole Jordan

During the month of January, Clarke County School District celebrated a number of accomplishments. Several schools showed significant improvement in math scores, which led to a visit from State Superintendent Richard Woods.

In mid-January, State Superintendent Richard Woods visited Oglethorpe Avenue Elementary School to celebrate the naming of four CCSD schools as Math Leaders in the state of Georgia.

Burney-Harris-Lyons Middle School, Cleveland Road Elementary School, Timothy Road Elementary School, and Oglethorpe Avenue Elementary School each received recognition for significant improvements in math proficiency rates.

Also in mid-January, two CCSD schools serving economically and educationally disadvantaged students were recognized for improvements in math, reading, and other scores.

Timothy Road Elementary School was named a Title I Reward School, making it among the highest performing 5% of Title 1 schools in Georgia according to data from 2023. Whit Davis Elementary School was named a Comprehensive Support and Improvement Progress School, indicating that its students showed a 5% increases in content mastery scores last year. Both awards were given by the Georgia Department of Education.
