Nicole Jordan

The University of Georgia has announced its spring Commencement speakers, with four-time Paralympian Jarryd Wallace delivering the undergraduate address and veterinary professor Paige Carmichael speaking at the graduate ceremonies.

Wallace, a UGA alumnus and two-time Paralympic bronze medalist, will speak at the undergraduate ceremony on May 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Sanford Stadium. Born in Athens, Wallace overcame a life-changing amputation at 20 to become a world-class sprinter and long jumper. He is also the CEO of the RIVL Foundation, which advances prosthetic innovation and amputee rehabilitation.

Carmichael, a Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor, will address graduate students on May 8 in Stegeman Coliseum. A leading researcher in veterinary pathology, she has pioneered treatments for inherited neurological diseases in animals.
