On Monday, Senator Ossoff pressed the Trump Administration to protect Georgia seniors from scams. Due to the rise of financial scams, Senator Ossoff sent a letter to Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson asking for answers and protection.

“Georgia’s senior population has surpassed 1.2 million, and they deserve the peace of mind that comes with financial security. Unfortunately, too many seniors are continuing to fall victim to scams that threaten their financial stability,” Sen. Ossoff wrote.

In 2023, Georgia was ranked among the top five states to be affected by financial fraud. According to FBI data, seniors in Georgia have experienced significant financial loss caused by scams, which increased from $25 million in 2020 to $92 million in 2023.
