Athens-Clarke Elections Director Charlotte Sosebee has resigned from her position. She is taking a position with DeKalb County as Elections and Registration Manager. Sosebee was appointed director of the ACC Election Department in 2016. During her tenure, she oversaw 22 elections, implemented Spanish language ballot options, and expanded advance voting opportunities through new locations. Her resignation was effective February 21st. Elections assistants Lisa McGlaun and Pam Long have been named as co-interim directors at the department. They will operate on a rotating three-month basis for continuity of operations through the upcoming June election.

A permanent director will be hired by the County Manager’s Office through a national search.

The city of Winterville is holding a Special Election in June to fill a vacancy resulting from the resignation of Councilperson Tina Mills.
