The mother-daughter relationship can be complicated, but one Athens family is putting it all out there in a new bilingual podcast. Sandra and her daughters Manny and are three Athenians who created the podcast “Chingonas y Chillonas” this year out of the Lightroom Athens.

Their podcast tackles family relationships, Mexican identity, and creating safe spaces for women of color. They sat down to speak with WUGA’s Emma Auer.

Emma Auer is an award-winning reporter who joined WUGA as a full-time producer in 2024. She is also a graduate student in UGA's Romance Languages Department, studying French and Spanish. She covers the breadth of Northeast Georgia stories, from Athens City Hall to Winterville farmers' markets. Emma's work has also been heard on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
