Clarke Central and Cedar Shoals high schools have been recognized as Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Schools for 2025, among 301 schools in Georgia honored by State School Superintendent Richard Woods. Clarke Central received designations in six out of seven AP Honor categories, while Cedar Shoals was named in three.

Based on 2024 AP exam results, Clarke Central was named an AP School of Distinction, AP STEM School, and AP STEM Achievement School for its strong student participation and passing rates in AP courses. Both schools earned recognition as AP Humanities Schools and AP Humanities Achievement Schools, meeting criteria for excellence in English, social studies, fine arts, and world languages.

Additionally, both schools were again named AP Access and Support Schools, an honor they have received for multiple years, recognizing their commitment to diversity and achievement in AP coursework.

“This recognition demonstrates CCSD’s commitment to creating educational journeys that empower students to fulfill their potential,” said Superintendent Dr. Robbie Hooker. AP courses, administered by the College Board, provide Georgia students with college-level learning opportunities, with qualifying scores potentially earning college credit.
