Indivisible Georgia District 10 is joining other organizations and individuals around the globe taking part in International Women’s Day activities. The observance celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. People from Athens and the surrounding areas are invited to join the rally at Athens City Hall on Saturday, March 8 at 3 pm. Karen Covi is a member of the organization.
“Our voice is our power, and we must exercise every opportunity and create new opportunities and innovate, to take our country back, take our democracy back,” according to Covi. “And women are a very strong group, we just need to carry a sign and speak up.”
Covi says the rally isn’t just for women.
“Everybody, men, women, children, we’re all in this together, from every county in district 10 and beyond.”
Participants are encouraged to bring signs, or carry one provided by Indivisible GA District 10. The theme for International Women’s Day 2025 is Accelerate Action. Purple is the official color. The first gathering took place in 1911.
