UGA sophomore enters NPR Tiny Desk Contest

Celine Houenou

Thousands of musicians submit entries to NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest each year. This time, several Athenians threw their hats in the ring.

One of them is Celine Houenou, a University of Georgia sophomore studying cognitive science, psychology, and music. She entered the contest with her original song, “Same Way,” and hopes it will help launch her music career.

WUGA’s Emma Auer sat down with Houenou to discuss her musical background, the story behind the song, and her dreams of making it to NPR’s iconic Tiny Desk.

Emma Auer is an award-winning reporter who joined WUGA as a full-time producer in 2024. She is also a graduate student in UGA's Romance Languages Department, studying French and Spanish. She covers the breadth of Northeast Georgia stories, from Athens City Hall to Winterville farmers' markets. Emma's work has also been heard on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
