Athens job market grew in February

The job market expanded in Athens in February, according to the Georgia Department of Labor.

Athens ended February with over 100,000 jobs. The number of jobs in the area increased by over 2,000 since last year. The unemployment rate in Athens in February was 3.4%, a few tenths of a percent more than the same time last year. The February unemployment rate in Athens was lower than the unemployment rate across Georgia at 3.6%.

Initial unemployment claims in all Georgia regions fell over the month of February.

192 people in Athens filed initial claims for unemployment in Athens in February, almost 80 fewer people than in January.
