An autopsy has been ordered on the body of a 44-year-old Athens man found dead in his home on Lavender Road.

The body of Frank Perry Williams is believed to have lain in the basement for about a month before his wife reported discovering it on Wednesday. According to police, the woman said she last saw her husband about a month ago after an argument and found him gone the following day.
Officers noted that a circular saw was found near the body and appeared to have been damaged by fire.

The circumstances surrounding Williams’ death remain under investigation.
