Mental health issues have steadily risen among college students since the pandemic. One band director at the University of Georgia made mental wellbeing a key part of his instruction this semester.
Dr. Jack Eaddy is the Associate Director of Bands at UGA’s Hugh Hodgson School of Music. He will co-lead the “Because of You” Mental Health Concert this Wednesday, which will be held at 7 pm at the UGA Performing Arts Center. He sat down with WUGA’s Emma Auer to discuss what inspired the event and how he has woven mental health awareness into his instruction. Here’s that conversation.
