Athens nonprofit, the Ark is holding its annual Adopt-a-Mom fundraiser for Mother’s Day.

For the past ten years, the Ark has been committed to honoring mothers in the community, particularly single working mothers as well as mothers and grandmothers in nursing homes.

Ashley Stewart is program coordinator at the Ark.

“Typically, what we do is we’ll give each mom a bouquet of flowers and a personalized card,” Stewart said. “This year we’re actually taking it up a notch and we’re doing a Mother’s Day brunch for them to attend. So, we’re going to have games and a wonderful brunch. There’s going to be a place for all the moms to take pictures with their kids, so we’re really excited about kind of upping the game this year.”

Stewart says there are still over 200 moms on the list. She says donors will have a chance to win a raffle this year.

“We do have an extra giveaway going on to incentivize people to adopt moms. Every time a person adopts a mom and shares an Adopt-a-Mom related post on Instagram or Facebook, they are entered to win two season passes to the Athens Rock Lobsters season of next year. So, that’s pretty big.”

Donors are eligible to win two season passes to the Athens Rock Lobsters season next need.

Donations are accepted through May 12th. Visit athensark.org for more information.
