Athens-Clarke County residents will have the opportunity to provide public input on next year’s budget in a series of meetings this month.
In Athens-Clarke County, the first in a series of three Taxpayer Bill Rights meetings is scheduled for Tuesday, June 3rd. Residents are invited to weigh in on the Fiscal Year 2026 budget and millage rate. Athens-Clarke County Mayor Kelly Girtz.
“The millage rate is the same,” Girtz said. “Certainly, the amount or revenue has increased slightly, due to the value of property and the amount of money that we garner from things like leasing the right of way to utility providers, but of course, costs have escalated at the same time.”
Two additional meetings are scheduled for Thursday, June 5th and Tuesday, June 10th, when commissioners are expected to adopt the spending plan.
The $201.6 million budget is $2 million less than the FY25 budget.
