The Georgia Department of Labor has announced that Georgia’s unemployment rate has dropped for the month of May, compared to April’s 3.6% rate.
The unemployment rate in the state of Georgia has remained consistent at 3.6% for about a year, with last month showing a drop of one-tenth of a percent.
Jobs have increased by 4,900 over the last month, and overall 14,500 in the last year, bringing the total of jobs in Georgia to an all-time high of 4,988,600. Three sectors reached record employment: financial activities, health care and social assistance, as well as government.
Along with those accomplishments, unemployment fell by 2,725 to 189,026 and was down by 1,717 over the past 12 months.
Georgia’s Labor Commissioner Bárbara Rivera Holmes released the numbers on Friday.
