Athens will celebrate the Fourth of July on June 28th. With an array of entertainment and fun, there’s something for the whole family.

The Independence Day celebration will take place at Southeast Clarke Park on Saturday, June 28th. There will be free activities including carnival rides, face painting, inflatables, a photo booth, and more.

From 7:00-8:30 p.m., there will be a special concert by the Funk Brotherhood, and throughout the night, there will be a food truck court with food for purchase. The fireworks show will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m., launching from near the Athens-Clarke County Tennis Center.

To accommodate parking, there will be free shuttles regularly circulating from the Wal-Mart off of Lexington Road, Whit Davis Elementary School, and the World-of-Wonder Playground parking lot. The shuttle and parking locations will open at 5:30 p.m.

ACCGov park rules will be enforced, including no alcohol, personal fireworks, grills, or smoking. Pets will also not be allowed at this event.

Southeast Clarke Park is located at 4440 Lexington Rd in Athens. If severe weather is predicted in advance, the Star Spangled Classic will take place on Friday, June 27th. All event times will remain the same.
