A small group of protestors gathered at Fire Station Number 7 on the Eastside of Athens Thursday afternoon, where members of US Representative Mike Collins’ staff held office hours.

About twenty residents of Georgia’s District 10 stood along Barnett Shoals Road protesting Representative Collins. They were organized by progressive political group Indivisible Georgia 10. The Republican Congressman did not attend the office hours, which were scheduled from 11 am to 2 pm.

A slow trickle of constituents filed in an out of the fire station, where members of media were not invited.

Molly Hooks took a break from work to express her concerns about President Trump’s recent megabill to Representative Collins’ staff.

“The cuts to Medicare and Medicaid are really high on my list. I have a lot of family members that are on both of those, and there’s a lot of things about the Big Beautiful Bill regarding Medicare and Medicaid cuts that really concern me,” she said.

Hooks also said she hoped to see Representative Collins at an in-person event in Athens.
