Tuesday, July 30th, Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock voted to advance legislation that will improve access to affordable housing. The housing legislation was voted out of the Senate Banking Committee by a vote of 24-0 and will now go to the full Senate.

Included in the housing legislation package was Warnock’s Appraisal Modernization Act, which will help empower Georgians with more tools and data to fight bias that would lower their homes’ values.

“We need a nationwide mobilization to solve our housing crisis, and so this is a first step in that direction. We must not be afraid to use all the tools at our disposal to build more homes and to restore the American Dream,” Warnock said in today’s Senate Banking Committee markup.

The national housing crisis has affected all regions of the state, with many Georgians struggling to afford rent and buy homes.

Along with access to affordable housing, the legislation will increase the effectiveness of national federal housing programs.
