State leaders have announced a new program that will allow lower-income homeowners to put solar panels on their roof, cutting their power bills and at no cost.

Now through September 7th, eligible homeowners can apply to be a part of the Georgia Bright Solar for All program. During the initial application period, Georgia Bright expects to pick about 450 homeowners at random and another 450 in the spring.

The program is open to anyone in Georgia who owns their home, has a roof or yard that receives lots of sun, earns less than 80% of the area median income, is not more than 60 days behind on their mortgage, not at risk of losing their home, and not in bankruptcy.
